7 killed in Gaibandha, Tangail road crashes

At least seven people were killed and more than 15 people injured in separate road accidents in Gaibandha and Tangail districts on Sunday morning.

In Gaibandha, five people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch after colliding with a truck on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gabindaganj upazila of Gaibandha early morning on Sunday.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

A Syedpur-bound bus of Shakil Paribahan fell into a ditch after it collided head-on with a stone-laden truck in the area leaving four people killed on the spot, said Gabindaganj highway police officer in-charge Abul Bashar.

The injured were rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College hospital and Gabindaganj upazila health complex where another injured succumbed to his injuries.

The number of deceased might increase, OC added.

In Tangail, two banana traders were killed as a truck hit them on Gorai-Shakhipur road at Mirzapur uapazila Sunday early morning .

Police said the accident took place when the men were resting in front of a truck that was hit by another truck on the road early Sunday.

Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.

Mirzapur Banshtoil police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Abdul Kayum confirmed this to Prothom Alo.
