Police arrested a suspected militant during a raid on a ‘militant den’ at Darikharbona in the city early Thursday.

Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive on the 6th floor of an eight-storey building in the area around 11.00pm, said AKM Nahidul Islam Nahid, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

During the two-hour drive, the law enforcers arrested a man, suspecting his involvement with a militant group and recovered Tk 11.90 lakh in cash and one laptop from the house, he said.

However, the name of the arrestee is yet to be disclosed.

Abir Mahmud along with his physician wife rented the flat and had been living there for the last four months. “The couple was hardly seen getting out of their residence,” Nahid said.

Panic gripped the residents of the building following the drive.
