20 arrested in Savar overnight raid

Police claimed arrest of 20 alleged criminals following an overnight drive through Koundia union of Savar, in the outskirts of capital Dhaka.

Detail about the arrestees could not be known immediately, a local stringer reports.

About 15 teams of police raided Koundia from 5:00pm to midnight yesterday, said Mahbubur Rahman, senior assistant superintendent of Savar police.

Twenty criminals were arrested. Most of the arrestees were facing arrest warrant in several cases including drug business and criminal case, the ASP said.

Among others, a shutter gun, some locally made sharp weapons and illegal drugs were said to have been recovered during the drive, he said.
