Man killed in clash over mosque land disput in Habiganj

A young man was killed and five others were injured in a clash over mosque land dispute at Kanaipur village in Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sabur Miah, 26.

Ataur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Nabiganj Police Station, said that there had been a dispute between Sabur and Abdul Barique of the village over land boundary of a mosque.

As a sequel to the dispute, they locked into an altercation on Friday after Jumma prayers.

Following the altercation, supporters of both groups being equipped with homemade weapons locked into a fierce clash around 10am, which left Sabur dead on the spot and five others injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested a man, Ruman Miah, 23, over the incident.

Police recovered the body, said the OC, adding that a drive is underway to arrest the killers involved.
