4 died in Sylhet road crash

Four men were died and four others injured in separate accidents in Osmani Nagar upazila and Joitapur upazila of Sylhet yesterday.

In Osmani Nagar upazila, three men were died in a head-on collision between a bus of 'Shyamali Paribahan' and a CNG- run auto-rickshaw at Goalabazar area Sylhet-Dhaka highway on Wednesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Mangal Mia, 19, son of late Jalal Mia, Askandar Ali, 55, son of late Soyab Ali, Saiful Amin, 30, all of them hailing from Osmani Nagar upazila.

Suggan Chakma, Additional Police Super (Media) of Sylhet, said a bus of 'Shyamali Paribahan' hit a CNG- run auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction, leaving two dead on the spot and five others injured. One other also died on the way of hospital.

Following the incident, locals blocked the road for half an hour and later, police brought the situation under control.

In Joitapur upazila, a businessman was killed in an accident at Damri area on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 45, son of former UP chairman late Nazrul Islam.

Local said an unknown speedy vehicle hit Saiful's motorcycle at Damri area, 8:30pm and he got critically injured.

Later, local rescued him buthe died on the way to Osmani Medical Hospital.
