Govt constructing Padma Bridge overcoming all conspiracies: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday said the government was constructing Padma Bridge with its own finance overcoming all sorts of conspiracies and obstacles.

"A vested interest quarter had hatched conspiracy to stop the construction of Padma Bridge making false corruption allegation," he said while addressing a distribution ceremony of health kits at the auditorium of Jhalakathi sadar upazila parishad here. Department of Women Affairs has organised the event under its Working Lactating Mother Assistance Fund Programme.

Amu said once people of southern region were most neglected, but a new horizon of development has been opened because of the construction of Padma Bridge and Payra port.

The minister said," The government is implementing different initiatives to empower women."

Deputy Commissioner Md Hamidul Haque chaired the function while
Superintendent of Police Md Jobayedur Rahman, Zila Parishad Chairman Sardar Md Shah Alam and district Awami League General Secretary Khan Saifullah Ponir addressed the function, among others.
