2 killed in Khagrachhari road crash

At least two people were died and another injured early Tuesday as a minibus ploughed into a group of people who put up a barricade on the road to check the suspicious speedy movement of the vehicle in Amtoli area of Manikchhari upazila.

The deceased were identified as Arif Hossain, 25, son of Sirajul Islam and Mahidul Islam, 35, of Jaliapara area in the Khagrachhari district.

The injured Jamal Hossain, 26, was rushed to local hospital in critical condition, said Moyeen Uddin Khan, officer-in-charge of Manikchhari Police Station.

Some locals barricaded the road in Amtoli area around 4:15 am following the suspicious movement of a minibus. During the time, the driver drove the minibus into the barricade, leaving two people dead on the spot and one injured, said the OC.
