Woman held with 2.75kg gold at Benapole border

Customs intelligence detained a woman on charge of carrying 11 gold bars weighing 2.75 kilogrammes at Benapole border in Jessore this morning.

The detainee, Begum Roksana, 30, was carrying the gold bars attached to her body with scotch tape, said Moinul Khan, director general of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID).

She was intercepted while crossing Benapole check-post before entering India, Khan said.

The gold is worth around Tk 1.35 crore, he added.
