Shipping department's engineer nabbed while taking bribe

Shipping department’s engineer of the government caught red-handed while taking bribe of Tk 5 lakh from a contractor on Tuesday.

A team of the Anti-Corruption Commission nabbed FM Fakhrul Islam, a chief engineer of the department, at his office in the capital’s Motijheel.

Being tipped off, an ACC-team led by its director Nasim Anwar caught the engineer at this office with the money.

The anti-corruption body said the government engineer was taken to Motijheel police station.

A case will be filed against Fakhrul Islam soon, the ACC added.
