2 cousins killed in Sylhet boat capsize

Two cousins were killed when a boat capsized in Garuli Beel, a water body in Fenchuganj upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Zakaria Ahmed Sihan, 27, son of Latif Mastar of Nurpur village and Wahid Matin Riyad, 26, son of Abdul Matin of Darshan Deuri in the city.
Quoting local people, police said Riyad, Sihan and some young boys went out for a pleasure trip by boat in Garulia Beel around 10:00 pm on Tuesday night, said Sugyan Chakma, additional superintendent of Sylhet Police.
At one stage, the boat carrying them sank in the water body due to strong wind.
All but Sihan and Riyad managed to swim ashore while the duo remained missing.
Later, the local people recovered the bodies of the two young men around 12:00 am.
