College student Siddiqur to be taken to India for eye treatment

The government has taken initiatives to send college student Siddiqur Rahman, who sustained injuries in his eyes during a “police action” in Dhaka’s Shahbagh, to a hospital in Chennai of India for better treatment.

“Communication is going on with a hospital in Chennai. Siddiqur will be taken to a suitable hospital there anytime,” said a health ministry source.

Besides, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has ordered Golam Musfata director of the National Institute of Opthalmology for taking all necessary arrangement to accelerate the treatment, said a press release.

The government has already taken all responsibilities including treatment of the victim in line with the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the release said.

Meanwhile, authorities of the National Institute of Opthalmology have already ensured the all necessary arrangement to take Siddiqur to a hospital in Chennai.
