Four people killed in ‘gunfights’, claim police

Four persons were killed in separate incidents of what the police called as gunfights in capital Dhaka and southwestern Kushtia district early Wednesday.

Two persons were killed in a reported gunfight between detective police and 'terrorists' in Mirpur Beribadh (embankment) area in the morning.

The police could not name them immediately but said they said they were snatchers. They were aged between 45 an 50 years of age and sub-inspector of police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Bachchu Miah confirmed their death.

Two others incidents took place in Baradi graveyard area of Kushtia town and in Bheramara upazila of the district, also early Wednesday.

Among the deceased, one was identified as Sobhan Ali. The police said Sobhan Ali was accused in a robbery case filed with Sadar police station.

Another incident of reported gunfight took place in 10 mile area in Bhramara upazila of the district killing an unknown man.
