Cop dies ‘falling off’ building in Mirpur police barrack

A police constable died reportedly after falling from the top floor of a six-storey dormitory in Public Order Management (POM) in Mirpur police barrack of Dhaka this morning.

Deceased Shariful Islam, 20, who hailed from Mymensingh, allegedly fell from the balcony around 8:30am, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.

He was pronounced dead when he was taken to the hospital one and half an hour later, he said.

Shariful joined the POM just three months ago as a constable, the SI said.
