Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday asked Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members to take a fresh vow to resist all sorts of conspiracies against the country and its development activities.

"Keep ready to face tough challenges in days ahead . . . As BNP and its friends are trying to create a new issue of conspiracy to foil the developments and achievements of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government," he told a gathering of BCL, student wing of ruling AL, on the Central Shaheed Minar premises here.

Quader called upon the BCL leaders and workers to restore the image of the old student body, and said, "Don't allow any intruders to make the organization bigger."

Dhaka City South and North units of BCL jointly organized the programme on the occasion of the National Mourning Day commemorating the martyrdom of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with Dhaka North City unit president of BCL Syed Mizanur Rahman was in the chair.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, categorically said boycotting the last general polls and subsequently being failed to launch any movement, the BNP and Jamaat are hatching deep-rooted conspiracies against the government both at home and abroad.

"They (BNP and their partners) can't tolerate the developments and achievements of the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and they are trying to make a new plot centering a judgment of the honourable court."

Noting that the court's judgment becomes impartial as it goes to their (BNP) favour, Quader said, adding "But the court's decision turns into controversial one when it goes against BNP."

About mass people's involvement in BNP politics, the AL general secretary observed that masses never sided with the BNP. "Neither any foreign force nor any court will help BNP assume office," he added.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP, AL joint-general secretaries Abdur Rahman, MP, Doctor Dipu Moni, MP, and advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP, organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain, former BCL general secretary Nazrul Islam Babu, MP, Prime Minister's APS Saifuzzaman Shekhor, BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag and general secretary SM Jakir Hossain also spoke.
