Freedom Fighter beaten dead in Magura

A freedom fighter, who sustained injuries in a clash between two rival groups at Nabagram village in Sreepur upazila on Wednesday afternoon over land dispute, died Sadar Hospital early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Wazed Biswas, 60.

Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said that there had been a long standing dispute between Raihan Biswas and Wazed Biswas of the village centring land.

Following the enmity, Raihan along with his supporters attacked Wazed and beat him mercilessly, leaving critically injured.

He was admitted at Sreepur Upazila Health Complex.

As his condition deteriorated, he was later referred to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:00 am.
