Van driver killed in city road accident

A rickshaw van driver has been killed as a speeding truck hit the van in Shahjalal International Airport area in the city.

The identity of the deceased - aged around 60 - could not be known immediately.

Quoting pedestrians Robi and Nur Islam, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp sub-inspector Bachchu Mia said a good-laden truck hit a rickshaw van in front of the customs gate of the airport in the early Thursday, leaving the van driver critically injured.

Pedestrians took him to DMCH where duty doctor declared him dead at 7:15 am.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue.
