Narsingdi bus-covered van collision leaves six dead

Six people, including two of a family, have been killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van at Kandail on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Madhabdi upazila of Narsingdi.

One of the deceased was identified as Sumi Begum, 16 while the identities of others are yet to be known.

Illias, Officer-in-charge of Madhabdi police station, said the Dhaka-bound bus coming from Monohardi of Narsingdi collided with the Bhairab-bound covered van and then both the vehicles fell into a roadside ditch around 7:00 am on Wednesday, leaving four people dead on the spot and 22 others injured.

Among the injured, one died on way to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital while another on way to Dhaka for treatment.

Traffic on the highway in the area came to a halt for several hours, and was finally eased following intervention by police.
