6 jailed for attempt to snatch money from Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar

A mobile court on Thursday sentenced six people to different terms of imprisonment for trying to snatch money from Rohingya refugees in Saplapur area of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.

Mimtanur Rahman, senior assistant police superintendent of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)- 7, said tipped off, they conducted a drive and arrested the criminals while they were trying to snatch money from the refugees after confining them.

Later a mobile court led by Teknaf executive magistrate Pranay Chakma awarded them the jail terms, according to a Rab press release.

Jubayer Helal, 37, son of Mohammad Ullah of Teknaf, was jailed for six months, Abul Kasem, 28, son of Fazal Ahmad of Maheskhali, for three months, Jalal Uddin, 27, son of Abul Hossain of Baradail village, Mostak Mia, 40, son of Makbul Ahmed of Lengurbil village, Kala Mia, 45, son of Sultan Ahmed of Saplapur village, Syed Alam, 47, son of Mojhar Mia of Saplapur village for two months each.
