Six-shop fined Tk 20,000 in Khulna

Six consumer shops were fined Tk 20,000 on Wednesday afternoon in Khulna city on charges of not using digital weighing system and not showing rate chart of essential commodities.

Two kitchen markets monitoring teams of Khulna district administration and Khulna City Corporation (KCC) conducted separate raid at Borobazar area and Daulatpur bazaar area.

The team led by the deputy commissioner of Khulna Nazmul Ahsan conducted the raid at Sakib Bhander at Borobazar while other team led by KCC bazaar super Gazi Salahuddin conducted the raid at the shops of Lavlu Molla, Nasir Morol, Abul Molla, Uttam Babu and Moshiur Rahman at Daulatpur bazaar. Executive magistrate Atiqul Alam, among others, were present during the raid.

Subsequently, the teams fined Tk 20,000 against the shop owners and released the fines instantly.

Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Nazmul Ahsan said such drive against the violation of consumers rights will be continued everyday during the holy month of Ramadan.
