Rain likely to continue in next 72 hrs

Rain or thundershowers are likely to continue over the country in the next 72 hours or three days, said a met office bulletin issued on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the met office forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over the country in the next 24 hours ending at 9:00 am tomorrow. 

According to the bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

Besides, day temperature may rise slightly over the north-western part and it may fall slightly elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

The well-marked low over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh weakened into a low and merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and thence north-eastwards to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderates over North Bay. 

The maximum temperature was recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature 24.6 degrees Celsius at Gopalganj in Dhaka division. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6:00 am today was recorded 240 mm at Sitakunda in Chattogram division. 
         
The sun sets at 6:45 pm today and rises at 5:25 am tomorrow in the capital.
