Heavy rainfall likely in 8 divisions

Some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions are likely to experience heavy (44 - 88 MM) to very heavy (89 MM or more) rains during the next 24 hours due to active monsoon.

Landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions triggered by rain during next 24 hours commencing at 10.00 am on Tuesday, Met office said.

Moreover, the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3 as squally weather may affect the ports and coastal areas of the country.

Due to the well marked low over West Bengal and adjoining area and strong monsoon steep pressure gradient and deep convection persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, Met Office said.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
