The capital city's National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) has come up with a philanthropic measure for those who are suffering from cardiac arrest.

The government hospital offers its patients free supply of Streptokinase injection that helps ease coronary blocks once one faces acute cardiac arrest.

A single injection costs five to six thousand taka at the medicine shops.

The hospital sources said the authorities have circulated a directive to provide heart patients with the injection free of cost, with the warning for the nurses and doctors at the hospitals not to advise the patients to buy the injection.

It also declares penalty for violating the order.

A doctor said the injection help dissolve coronary blocks letting the heart pump blood.

The hospital director professor Afzalur Rahman told Prothom Alo the declaration comes considering the poor people of the country.
