COVID-19 cases surpass the 65-lakh mark in India

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday, India's COVID-19 caseload went past 65 lakh, while the number of people who have recovered from the disease crossed 55 lakh.

The rate of recovery stands at 84.13 per cent.

The total cases of coronavirus rose to 65,49,373 with 75,829 individuals testing positive for the infection in a day, while the death toll rose to 1,01,782 with the virus taking 940 lives in a 24-hour period, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Total recoveries have risen to 55,09,966, while in the country there are 9,37,625 active cases of coronavirus infection, representing 14.32 percent of the total case load, the data showed.

The case fatality rate of COVID-19 has further fallen to 1.55 per cent, PTI says.
