Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday handed over a job appointment letter to the Government Titumir College student M Siddiqur Rahman who lost his eyesight due to careless police action during a demonstration at Shahbagh.

The minister handed over the appointment letter of the state owned Essential Drugs Company to Siddiqur this afternoon at the Secretariat.

Siddiqur got a post of telephone operator with basic salary of Tk 13,000 in the company which he will be paid after his job status becomes permanent after one year.

Minister said “We are all happy to provide a job to Siddiqur, his job will not be hampered by his disability.”

Siddiqur, a third-year political science student, suffered injuries to both eyes as police lobbed teargas shells to disperse the demonstrating students last July 20, demanding the announcement of their examination schedules.

A police officer was indeed sent on forced holiday in the fallout of the attacks.
