Boiler blast leaves 11 hurt in Ctg factory

A boiler explosion left at least eleven workers injured in a steel manufacturing factory in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong early today.

The victims could not be identified immediately. They were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Rafiqul Islam, assistant manager of GPH Ispat, told The Daily Star a furnace boiler exploded in the factory around 5:30am. However, he declined to comment any further.

Six victims sustained serious with injuries to the thorax and chest. They were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, hospital police outpost’s duty officer Alauddin Talukdar said.

All of the victims received burn injuries on the thorax and chest.
