Efforts on to lessen border incidents, says BGB chief

Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Md Abul Hossain, NDC, PSC, said efforts are on to reduce the number of untoward incidents along the long frontier though cooperation with India.

“Some unwanted incidents will remain in the long border areas. But we are trying our level best to reduce untoward incidents here,” the BGB chief said while talking to reporters during an inspection to Nakshi border outpost in Jhinaigati  and Baromari border outpost in Nalitabari upazilas on Sunday.

Expressing satisfaction over existing security measures along border, the GB boss hoped that the security will be further strengthened along Bangladesh's land and riverine frontiers with India and Myanmar when the newly appointed 15,000 personnel join the force.

BGB Mymensingh Sector Commander Colonel Kazi Anirudda, BGB 28 battalion commanding office Lt Col Anisur Rahman, Jhinaigati BOP commander Subedar Md Nazrul Islam accompanied him during the visit.
