Captain missing after slipping into water at Chattogram port

A foreign sailor went missing after slipping into the Karnaphuli River from his vessel docked at the port jetty on Monday night.
The missing is Markopoulos Vasileios, 57, captain of Cyprus-flag carrier MV Evinia.
Lt Col Md Abdul Gaffar, director (security) of Chattogram Port, said the vessel coming from China with steel pipe and tools anchored at the port in the afternoon.
The sailor slipped from a hanging stair while he was getting down from it, said the official.
Members of Navy, Coast Guard and port security have launched operation soon after the mishap, he added.
