2 killed in Narayanganj road crash

Two persons were killed in a road accident as a goods-laden truck ran over a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj early today.
The deceased were identified as Mahbub Alam, 29, a passenger of the auto-rickshaw hailing from Damudya of Shariatpur and the auto-rickshaw driver Monir Hossain, 30, of Manohardi in Narsingdi, said police.
The incident took place in Dhakeshwari area around 3:30am. The jute-laden truck fled from the scene leaving both Mahbub and Monir dead on the spot, said Inspector Nazrul Islam of Siddhirganj Police Station.
Mahbub was returning home from work on the battery-run auto-rickshaw from Shimrail intersection in Siddhirganj, the police official said.
The bodies of the victims were kept at Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy, he said, adding that police were trying to catch the truck.
