6 killed in Barguna road accident

At least six people were killed and 20 injured in a road accident on Patuakhali-Kuakata highway in Amtali upazila of Barguna district this morning.

The accident occurred when a Patuakhali-bound passenger bus and a three-wheeler, locally known as Mahindra, had a head-on collision in Manikjuri bus stand area around 11:00 am, said police.

All the deceased were passengers of the three-wheeler, said Alauddin Milon, officer-in-charge of Amtali Police Station.

One of the deceased has been identified as Shahanaz Begum, 35, a teacher of Tarikata Govt Primary School of Amtali, the OC said.

The injured were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Police seized the bus but failed to arrest the driver, the police official added.
