Transport workers in Narayanganj have beaten up four teenagers, including a student.

A group of transport workers suddenly attacked several teenagers in Siddhirganj’s Mouchak area around 11:30am on Wednesday.

Later, they turned the four teenagers over to police.

"Transport workers brought four teenagers to the police station. One of them was the student of Rayerbagh School and College. Two of them were hawkers,” said Abdus Sattar, chief of the local police station.

“We could not identify the fourth teenager.”

Transport leaders were not immediately available for comment, but local residents said the workers blocked a road to protest “vandalism” on vehicles by students.

The transport workers also harassed students in school uniform, witnesses said.

Thousands of students continued their protests, mostly in Dhaka, for the fourth day after a bus ran over and killed two college students in the capital earlier this week.
