Two suspected drug peddlers and an alleged robber were killed in separate incidents of reported gunfight with law enforcers in Cox's Bazar’s Teknaf and Moheshkhali upazilas early today.

In Teknaf, two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Baharchhari beside the Marine Drive Road early in the morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-7 conducted a drive in the area around 4:00am, said Mirza Mahtab Uddin, in-charge of Rab-7 camp in Teknaf.

Sensing presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire to them, forcing the Rab members to fire back in self-defense.

Later, Rab recovered the bullet-hit bodies, said Mirza Mahtab.

The team also recovered 50,000 pieces of Yaba tables, two pistols, two magazines, four-round bullets and a LG gun from the spot.

In Moheshkhali, a suspected robber was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Matarbari Bridge around 3:00 am.

The deceased was identified as Helal Uddin, 35, son of Jakir Hossain of Khansamiaji Para in the upazila.

Prabash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station, said Helal was wanted in 12 cases filed with different police stations in the upazila.
