2 killed in Narayanganj road crash

Two persons were killed and one other was injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Narayanganj early today.

The incident took place around 1:30am at Parba area of Rupganj upazila when a motorcycle was hit by a car and then a truck coming from opposite direction ran over its riders, leaving two of them dead on the spot and one other injured, said police.

The deceased were identified Hridoy, 22, and Sharmin Akter, 17, while the injured was Akhi Akhter, all were the motorbike’s riders, said Md Kaium, officer-in-charge of Kanchpur Highway Police outpost.

The truck fled the scene immediately after the accident, the OC said, adding that police seized the car but its driver managed to escape.

The injured has been admitted to a local hospital in Rupganj, the police official said.

The bodies of the deceased are kept at the police outpost, the OC added.
