Lawyer Imtiaz Mahmud arrested

Lawyer and writer Imtiaz Mahmud was arrested in a case over ICT act on Wednesday morning.
Confirming the matter acting officer-in-charge (OC) of Banani Thana BM Farman Ali said a case was filed against Imtiaz Mahmud with Khagrachhari Sadar Thana in 2017. He has been arrested from his Banani resident following an arrest warrant in that case, the OC added.
He was sent to court after the arrest, OC Farman said.
His elder brother Parvej Mahmud told media that Imtiaz was asked to meet a senior officer of Gulshan Zone while he was going to court around 11:30 am. Then, he was taken to Banani Thana and shown arrested, Parvej added.
