Road accident claims 11 life across the country

On Tuesday, 11 people were killed in road accidents in eight districts, including a mother and her daughter.

Two men— Rehena Khatun, 31, and her daughter Anika— were killed in the morning, according to media reports, as a truck hit their three-wheeler from behind at the intersection of Chakripara in Sadar upazila district of Joypurhat.

Shahriar Khan, Sadar Police Station's officer-in-charge, said the accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. on the way to a local school to drop her daughter.

In Mymensingh, as a Dhaka-bound private car fell into a roadside pond in Trishal upazila, two people were killed, including an assistant police sub-inspector, said Trishal OC Azizur Rahman.

Aminul Islam, 32, the ASI, and his brother-in-law Jahidul Islam, 27, named the deceased.

A minor boy in Bagerhat— Bayezid Sheik, 6, Badshah Sheik's son — was killed in the morning by a bus at Gabtala in Kachua upazila.

Officer-in-charge of the Kachua Police Station Sheik Shafiqur Rahman said Bayezid was trapped under the passenger bus wheels when he and his mother returned home from the house of his maternal grandfather.

In Jhenaidah, in the morning in a road accident at Bada Para Bridge in Shailkupa upazila, a man, Nurali Hossain, son of late Olim Uddin of Krishna Nagar village, was killed.

Shailkupa Police Station OC Bazlur Rahman said when heading to the upazila area, Nurail was trapped under the truck's wheels.

A sexagenarian, Shafiqul Islam, Ghalghalia Rahimpur village's son of Umar Ali, was killed in Satkhira after being hit at noon by a three-wheeler at Sakhipur in Debhata Upazila.

In Barishal, a former army man, 52-year-old Tajul Islam Swapan, a Banaripara Upazila resident, was killed as his motorcycle head-on collided with a three-wheeler at Gabtala in Sadar Upazila, local sergeant Md Asad said.

Rakib Hauladar, 32, son of Jhalkati's Badshah Hauladar, was killed in Cumilla after being hit by a truck at noon in front of Mainamati Highway Police Station.

According to assistant sub-inspector Jasim, another man, Abul Kalam, 87, was crushed to death in a separate accident under the wheels of a speeding bus in Chauddagram Upazila.
