PM Hasina 29th most powerful woman in the world

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ranked 29th in the World's 100 Most Powerful Women's Forbes list this year.

The business magazine headquartered in the United States published its 16th annual list on Friday, which is available on its Asia edition website.

Hasina ranked 26th last year.

Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is ranked 34th, a newcomer to Forbes most powerful female list.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has toped the Forbes 2019 list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women,' followed by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde in second place and US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi in third place.

"Action was taken by women around the world in 2019, claiming leadership positions in government, business, philanthropy, and media. There's no need to mess with these trailblazers, "Forbes said.
