Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader states the Prime Minister is looking into the issue of sculpture.

“We are in the government, we should not be quick-tempered with everything. The Prime Minister is handling the matter. She has come to this position by facing many unfavorable situations with courage. She knows how to deal with any situation."-  Obaidul Quader told reporters after paying homage at the shrine of three national leaders on the occasion of the death anniversary of Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy.

He says, “We will not go into any clash with anyone directly. We will just contend that idols and sculptures are not the same. Those who speak out against sculpture do not know that there are sculptures in all Muslim countries around the world, including Saudi Arabia. If the sculptures there are not anti-Islamic, why would it be in Bangladesh!”

“Although a group spoke of democracy, they never seemed to believe in democracy. They are communal evils, they are the enemies of democracy. The enemies of democracy do not want the progress of democracy. Democracy is an evolving process, it has its flaws. To give an institutional form, internal democracy has to be practiced within the party; this is not done by anyone other than the Awami League. Those who do not have democracy in their own homes will establish democracy in the country- it is not believable.” Obaidul Quader says further.
