A 15-kilometer long tailback was created on Dhaka-Chittagong highway due to slow movement of vehicles ahead of Eid-ul-Azha in Daudkandi area on Thursday morning.

Officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police Station Abul Kalam Azad said the tailback stretched from Meghna-Gomti Bridge in Daudkandi to Madanpur in Narayanganj.

As a result, hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the highway, causing immense sufferings to the hundreds of passengers.

The movements of vehicles go slow down when those enter into two-lane bridges from the four-lane highway and it is one of the major reasons of long tailback on the busy highway, the OC observed.

Besides, huge pressure of vehicular movement is also another reason behind the traffic jam.

However, police were trying to ease the congestion, the OC said.
