The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday disposed of an appeal against High Court order that declared illegal the amended constitution of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

A three-member Appellate Division panel headed by chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order with observation that the National Sports Council is not allowed to interfere in BCB's authority.

"As per today's order, only BCB can amend its constitution, not NSC," a lawyer involved with the case said.

The High Court on 27 January 2013, had declared the amended constitution of BCB illegal. NSC and BCB the very next day filed appeal with the apex court and the Appellate Division chamber judge on the same day stayed that High Court order.

Later the stay was extended on different occasions.
