JSC, JDC exams to start on Nov 2

With the participation of more than 26 lakh examinees, the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations-2019 will begin across the country on November 2.

“Out of a total 26,61,682 candidates, the number of JSC examinees is 22,60,716 while 4,00,966 examinees will participate in the JDC examination”, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni told a press briefing at the conference room of the ministry here today.

“The number of total educational institutions and exam centers are 29,262 and 2,982 respectively”, she added.

Additionally, 454 students are taking part in the JSC and JDC examinations at nine overseas centers in Jeddah, Riyadh, Medina, Tripoli, Doha, Saham in Oman, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, she said.

The minister said except English papers, examinations of all subjects at JSC and JDC level will be held under creative question paper this year.

She said that the coaching centers across the country have been directed to keep closed from October 25 to November 15 for holding the examinations in a smooth manner.

Actions would be taken if any coaching centre continues its activities during the ban period, said Dr Dipu Moni.

During the briefing, it was informed that the examinees must reach the centers 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the examinations.

The education minister also said the results of JSC and JDC examinations will be published under Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) 4 scale from 2020.

Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Sohrab Hossain, Additional Secretary Javed Ahmed, Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor Md Ziaul Haque and ministry officials were also present in the press briefing.
