Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three as the depression over North West Bay and adjoining North East Bay moved northeastwards and now lies over Bhola and adjoining area as a land depression on Monday morning.

It is likely to move in a North-Northeasterly direction further inland, said a special bulletin of Met office.

Under the influence of the land depression, deep convection is continuing and steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay.

Gusty or squally weather will affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining areas of Bangladesh, the bulletin said.

Under the influence of the depression, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox's Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge of 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice, it added.
