Inu hails stakeholders' consensus on draft broadcast act

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today hailed all stakeholders for reaching in a consensus on Draft Broadcast Law. 

The law, he said, would provide security and independence to broadcast arena and save it from undesired interference.

This law is for institutionalization of the flourishing broadcast media, he said and gave thanks to all for reaching in a consensus for the law's necessity.

He said this while addressing a meeting in this respect held at the conference room of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) here. 

Transparency International Bangladesh Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman termed the draft as an effective and well-arranged and suggested to finalize it after taking more opinions.

Nari Sangbadik Kendro President Nasimun Ara Haq suggested for enlargement of the circumference of law on broadcast and standard of language except license and share.

The council, led by Chief Information Commissioner Professor Golam Rahman, presented the draft of Broadcast Act and all stakeholders took part in the discussion. 

Information Minister joined the discussion as chief guest and Prime Minister's Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury as special guest with Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed in the chair.
