BNP doesn’t believe in democracy: Obaidul

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday accused BNP of not believing in democracy. 

After inaugurating a foot over bridge at Hemayetpur bus stand area the minister told the reporters that, BNP doesn’t practice democracy within the party as well. 

Slamming BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s recent comment that “There is no democracy in the country”, Obaidul asked “If there was no democracy in the country, then how the Inter-Parliamentary Union conference was held here?” he asked.

The minister said “How their (BNP) different senior leaders secured bail in various cases, if the whole country have had turned into a jail.”

“BNP’s senior leaders are only concerned about themselves; they don’t think much of junior leaders. So they don’t manage bail for junior leaders”, he said.
