Kumari Puja today

The Maha Ashtami and Kumari Puja of the Hindu community will be observed in the country today as part of five-day Durga Puja that began on Friday.

The biggest religious festival of the Hindu community is going on with enthusiasm and due religious fervor at temples across the country.

According to Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, a total of 29,395 permanent and temporary pandals have been erected across the country, including 229 in the capital.

The festival started marking the Sashthi at 4pm on Friday, while it will come to an end with the immersion of the goddess' idols in water bodies on October 11.

The Maha Saptami puja was held yesterday. The Maha Ashtami, Kumari Puja and Sandhi Puja will be celebrated tomorrow.

At Dhaka Ramkrishna Moth, the Maha Ashtami Puja will be observed at 6:03 am and Kumari Puja at 11 am while Sandhi Puja will be held from 5:39 pm to 6:27 pm.The main attraction of Maha Saptami is the Kumari Puja.

Security measures have been beefed up at temples and pandals with deployment of additional squads of Ansar, police, RAB and other law enforcement agencies for peaceful celebration of the festival.

Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee has opened a control room at Dhakeshwari Temple in the city.
