Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's next project Holey Bakery will be based on the Gulshan 1 attack on the Holey Artisan cafe.

Farooki, who is one of the judges for the short film category in the Busan Film Festival, said this to US-based magazine 'Variety'.

"Holy Bakery will be a one-shot film. It will be intimate and intense," says Farooki. “In that one-shot I believe we will be able to explore the complexity of South Asian politics, the rise of the culture of hatred, the rise of intolerance, the rise of militancy and conflict between the modern Bangladesh and a small segment of those who are conservative," the Bangladeshi film-maker was quoted as saying.

He told Prothom Alo from Busan that he will start shooting the film, starring Bangladeshi and foreign artistes, early next year.

In the Gulshan cafe massacre, 20 hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, and two police officers, were killed by militants while five militants and one suspected associate of the attackers were killed during a commando operation inside the café.
