Angelina Jolie’s temper, Brad Pitt’s alcoholism

Investigative journalist Ian Halperin, who specialises in covering celebrities, claims that no one knows more about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s 11-year relationship than him. He’s making a documentary called Broken: The Incredible Story of Brangelina, which will prove, according to him, that the marriage was on the verge of breakup for years, and that the blame lies mostly on Jolie.

In a recent interview to Today Extra (via Yahoo News), Halperin teased viewers with what they could expect from his film, expected to be released towards the end of 2017.

“In the documentary…(I say) that the relationship was ripping at the seams for years.
Poisonous barbs were being hurled at each other in the Jolie-Pitt household for so long,” he says.

But Halperin seems to have clearly picked a side in this battle. When asked if Pitt’s recent admission to his dependence on alcohol was the reason behind the split, he said, “I definitely deal with his alcohol tendencies and his liking for smoking marijuana in the film. Does that make him a bad father? Absolutely not.”

Brad Pitt’s made a return to the limelight in an interview with GQ Style published May 3. In it, he detailed his struggles with alcohol and how he is dealing with the abrupt split.

But Halperin makes it clear that his film won’t be one-sided. “What I did was try to give a very fair account. (Angelina) is a good ambassador, she has done some great stuff, she’s visited impoverished nations, she has helped rape victims, I applaud her for that,” he says.

“But she is an extremely difficult person with volcanic temper, which drove Brad Pitt, which I say in the film, pretty much to becoming an alcoholic.”

Halperin also claims that Pitt wanted to break up first, but was Jolie beat him to it, which he didn’t take too well.

“He was blindsided with divorce papers by Angelina back in September of 2016 and what happened was she beat him to the punch,” he says.

“Because again, there were so many poisonous barbs between the two over the years, that Brad had threatened to get a divorce and she decided to beat him to the punch.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split up when Jolie abruptly filed for divorce in September 2016. They’d first met on the sets of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.
