BCB to allow two NOCs per year for overseas leagues

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will allow their contracted players two No Objection Certificates (NOCs) per year to play in franchise leagues over the world, BCB CEO Nizammudin Chowdhury informed.

ESPNcricinfo report suggests that the players have already been made aware of the decision which is to come into effect immediately.

The board has made it mandatory for the players to participate in first class tournaments and the two NOC restriction is to be applied to all formats of the game. This means that T10 formats—set to hit the ground running in near future will also fall under the restrictions.

"It is a principled, policy decision of the board," Chowdhury said. "We will allow two NOCs per year. It will be on a case-by-case basis and it is with immediate effect. We want to give them enough rest and manage their injuries. We want to ensure all our players are available for international matches."

Injuries and fitness are BCB’s concern when allowing their high-profile players to venture into franchise leagues around the world and rests are important for better performance output.

Bangladesh’s premier cricketers like Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mustafizur Rahman gets called into top franchise leagues every year. That scenario is likely to change as the decision comes into effect.

Tamim, Shakib and Mustafizur has also been picked for a T10 competetion in UAE which starts on December 14.

Bangladesh’s disastrous tour of South Africa may be a likely cause for this unprecedented move from the BCB.
