Comilla-Dhaka’s big guns set to fire in race to final

Two of the strongest teams in BPL 2017, Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians are set to take on in Qualifier 1 in Mirpur. The winner will qualify for the finals.

2015 champions Comilla and 2016 champions Dhaka are will be aiming to reach another BPL final. Comilla won 9 games in the round-robin stage while defending title holders Dhaka won 7.

It’s not only a match to secure the final spot, but also a match to take revenge for the Dynamites. They lost on both occasions they faced Victorians this season.

Dhaka confirmed their second-spot with a thumping 43-run win over Rangpur Riders. Captain Shakib Al Hasan is in good form with bat and ball. He scored 47* in the previous match. He is the leading wicket-taker with 19 wickets.

Big guns Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Shahid Afridi along with Cameron Delport have in excellent form so far. Pacer Abu Hider Rony is delivering the goods with the ball. Mosaddek Hossain is also contributing when his team needs.

Comilla have been scintillating form. Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan did a very good job for them until he had to leave on national duty. His replacement Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Zadran is also servicing Afghanistan.

But the bowling attack that includes Hasan Ali, Al-Amin Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin have been at their best. Zimbabwe recruit, who transferred to Comilla from Dhaka, took 3 for 15 against Sylhet Sixers. He didn’t let Victorians feel the absence of Rashid.

Skipper Tamim Iqbal has led the side from the front with the bat. Liton Das struggled throughout the tournament with not converting the starts. But his man of the match performance of 65 runs against Sylhet has shown good signs.
