Tri-nation T20I tournament kicks off today

In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka’s independence, the seven-match Nidahas Trophy will kick off at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.

Bangladesh and India are the two other parties of the day-night T20I tournament, which will open with the match between host Sri Lanka and India at 8:00pm (Bangladesh time).

The Tigers will start their campaign under the guidance of interim head coach Courtney Walsh for the first time, taking on the host side Thursday at the same time and venue.

Eying to a spot in the final, Bangladesh team reached Sri Lanka on Sunday to participate in the tournament where Mahmudullah Riyad will captain the Tigers as their regular captain all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out from the squad due to a finger injury.

Before leaving the country on Sunday, Mahmudullah told reporters at the airport that, “The tri-nation tournament is a good platform to prove our worth and we’re expecting to win the trophy.”

Bangladesh Squad: Mahmudullah Riyad (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarker, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Abu Haider Rony, Abu Jahed Rahi, Ariful Haque, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Nazmul Islam Apu and Liton Kumar Das.

India Squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammad Siraj and Rishabh Pant.

Sri Lanka Squad: Dinesh Chandimal(captain), Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Janith Perera, Thisara Perera, Jeewan Mendis, Suranga Lakmal, Isuru Udana, Akila Dananjaya, Amila Aponso, Nuwan Pradeep, Dushmantha Chameera and Dananjaya De Silva.
