Young Brazil supporters defeat Argentina fans at Rayerbazar

In a football match organised for slum children at Rayerbazar in the city, young supporters of Brazil defeated Argentina 5-4 in a tiebreaker on Thursday celebrating the excitement of the ongoing Fifa World Cup in Russia.

In the match, organised by Save the Children and Manabik Shahajya Sangstha (MSS), disadvantaged children from Rayerbazar area played a competitive football game wearing jerseys of their favourite teams in presence of celebrities.

Being present in the occasion singer Samina Chowdhury said,“I am amazed by the enthusiasm of these young players. If these children are provided with an opportunity, they will certainly make a difference.”

Sohel, 16, captain of the winning team in the match said, “There are very few sporting opportunities for children in the locality. We want playgrounds exclusively for children”.

Media personalities Iresh Zaker, Munni Shaha, former coach of Bangladesh football team Maruful Haque and former member of national football team Saiful Bari Titu were also present as guests of honors.
