President, PM greet Tigers for reaching Asia Cup Cricket final

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended their heartiest congratulations to Bangladesh cricket team for reaching final of the ongoing Asia Cup Cricket tournament by defeating Pakistan.

In a congratulatory message, the President, now is on five-day visit to his ancestral district in Kishoreganj, today (Thursday) greeted all the players, coach and officials concerned of the national team as well as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for achieving victory over Pakistan.

Bangladesh team moved into the final of the 14th edition of the six-nation continental tournament as it defeated two-time champions Pakistan by 37 runs in a virtual semifinal at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

“This winning spree of the Bangladesh cricket team will continue in the days to come,” the President hoped.

The Tigers will now face India in the final in Dubai International Cricket Stadium tomorrow (Friday).

In a congratulatory message, Sheikh Hasina, now in New York, on Wednesday greeted all the players, coach and officials of the national team as well as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials concerned for defeating Pakistan, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

The premier expressed the hope that the winning spree of the Bangladesh cricket team would continue in future.

The prime minister arrived here on Sept 23 on a weeklong official visit to the United States to attend the 73rd Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly here.
